A tool setter measures each tool on the machine, so you can load a new tool and carry on cutting without setting it by hand, and know straight away if a tool has broken or worn.
MACH’s own tool setter sets tool lengths automatically. The Blum ZX-Speed RC is a 3D tool setting probe that measures length and radius and checks for broken tools, with 0.4µm repeatability. It sends its signal by Blum’s BRC radio, so it needs no cable run across the table and no line of sight to the receiver, and it shares a receiver with a Blum spindle probe. Its measuring surface is replaceable and it is sealed to IP68 against coolant and chips.
For the most demanding work, a Blum laser tool setter measures tools without touching them, at full spindle speed, so length and radius are measured as the tool actually cuts. Blum’s laser systems take thousands of readings a second, allow for spindle growth at high speed, and can measure over 90% of conventional cutting tools.
Whichever you choose, MACH fits it to the machine, sets it up and fully calibrates it with the DynaPath control’s tool setting cycles, so it is ready to use when the machine is handed over.
